Mains Work
This section covers supply pipes and mains greater than 1” in diameter. This includes:
- Fire Hydrant & Wash outs: This covers maintenance and renewals of all types of Fire Hydrants and wash outs including re-washer, renew metal outlet, repack & ease spindle, renew false cap and complete renew with mains work

- Sluive Valves: A sluice valve is often used on larger diameter mains (2” or greater) mainly for industrial and commercial feeds. It is commonly referred to as SV and has the same purpose as a stopcock to isolate different supply feeds. This works covers all maintenance and renewals of any type of sluice valve including , chamber frame & cover rebuilds, repacking glands, ease spindles, repairs to bolts and flange plates and full replacement of valves with mains work

- Mains repairs: This covers all repairs and maintenance of all water mains and supply pipes greater than 1” in diameter. There are many different types of materials that have been used in the installation of water mains from Asbestos cement, PVC, Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE), Copper, Galvanised Iron to the more common Ductile and Cast Iron. With this there are many fittings to adapt and maintain these different materials for use in repairs to water mains, new connections for supplies to properties and general preservation, see demonstrations below:
Leak on lead run joint replaced with 4” couplings and section of ductile iron main
Ring fracture on 4” Cast iron main Repair clamp with 2” outlet

Leak on tapping ferrule replaced with new ferrule strap and feed to property
2” main repair with reconnection to supply pipe
- Mains / supply pipe diversions: Most properties will still be fed by the original supply pipe installed when the properties were built. This can be a problem if that property is to be extended or improvements made to the surrounding grounds. This work will sometimes impede the line of the original pipe work and it is advisable to remove this from future obstacles in case of emergency repairs. This can be done by diverting new pipe work around proposed structures and away from future hazards. This work also covers mains extensions for extra requirements and demand from an existing supply.

- Electro-fusion: This is the process of joining similar plastic pipes with use of fusion equipment and incorporates all repairs and maintenance.
